On Monday morning IST (8 February), one of the most anticipated sports events of the year will take place. Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers go head-to-head in Super Bowl LV, the 55th edition of the grand finale of NFL’s season – America’s most watched sports competition.
Super Bowl LV will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida – the home ground of the Buccaneers. This will be the first-ever Super Bowl where one of the participating teams is playing in its own stadium. Despite that, defending champions Kansas City Chiefs are favorites to lift the trophy, with their victory priced at odds of 1.57
The battle of the quarterbacks: Brady vs Mahones
The outcome of the game might be heavily determined by the unusual duel between the teams’ quarterbacks. Tampa Bay will be led by the legendary Tom Brady, who at 43 will feature in his record 10th Super Bowl, aiming to win his 7th championship ring. On the other side is Chiefs’ 25-year old star Patrick Mahones who was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in their last year’s epic Super Bowl comeback.
What happened in the NFL regular season?
It comes as no surprise that Chiefs are favored. The current champions were the best team in the NFL regular season with 14 wins and only 2 losses (one of which came in the final game of the season when they rested most of their starters). Under coach Andy Reid, Kansas City made their 7th playoff appearance in the last 8 seasons, while winning their 5th straight AFC West division title. Chiefs’ offense ranked first in the NFL in yards (6,653) and sixth in points scored (473).TIP: Kansas City Chiefs – 2.5 at 1.71
(Kansas City Chiefs to win with more than 2.5 point spread)
In their first year with Tom Brady in the lines, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished the 2020 season with an 11–5 record. That granted them a playoff spot for the first time since 2007-2008 and later they sealed their first playoff win since their Super Bowl triumph in 2003. Tampa Bay’s defense was ranked 6th in the league (5,234 yards) in regular season.

H2H advantage vs momentum
The Buccaneers and Chiefs will meet for the second time this season. In week 12, visitors Kansas City, who were again favorites at 1.57 odds, took an early 17-0 lead, but the Bucs stormed back in the 4th quarter to push their opponents against the wall. However, the Chiefs managed to clinch the victory with 27-24.
