The Guyana Amazon Warriors haven’t been at their best in 2020. If they won all matches going into the finals last season, this time they have struggled on multiple fronts before making a last ditch effort thanks to their batters to make it to the semi-finals of the season. St Lucia Zouks, on the other hand, have been spectacular under the coach, Andy Flower, and has found match-winners on the go to put up a resounding performance this season. They will pose a major challenge to the Amazon Warriors in the semi-finals.
The St Lucia Zouks have odds priced at 2.30 while the Guyana Amazon Warriors stand at 1.62.
The Trinbago Knight Riders have 10 wins on the trot this season under Kieron Pollard and have been invincible as a team, winning matches from difficult situations and finding match-winners in plenty. They have experimented with their best options in the last few league games and are best placed to swallow the Jamaica Tallawahs in the semi-final. That said, it is pertinent that they maintain their clean sheet in the knockouts and too muc experimentation could confound their best combination heading into the Tallwahs who are lucky to be in the semis. The Tallawahs will hope for some Andre Russell magic after a miraculous entry to the knockout stage. Their bowlers have been below par and batting over-dependent on Russell. All said and done, an upset win cannot entirely be ruled out given the potential in the line-up.
The Knight Riders have odds priced at 1.62 while the Jamaica Tallawahs stand at 2.30.
Jamaica and Knight Riders have an equal head to head record while Guyana hold the edge over Zouks
The overall head-to-head record between Trinbago Knight Riders and Jamaica Tallawahs read 9-9. There has been little to choose between these sides. That said, the last time the Tallawahs beat Knight Riders was in 2018. Since then, in two seasons, the Knight Riders have won four matches on the trot against the Tallawahs.
The Zouks and Guyana have an interesting head to head record with Guyana having won 10 matches compared to Zouks’ five. In 2020, both teams won a game each, but in the last two years, Guyana boast of a 3-1 win-loss record.
RECOMMENDED BET: Guyana Amazon Warriors to win the toss at 1.90
The Zouks have been the better team this season, though and in two of the last three seasons, the head to head has been 1-1 between these two teams.
Keep an eye on…
Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer and the Zouks off-spinners: The most potent batsmen in the Guyana line-up are Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran and both are in good nick. That said, their task is cut out by the sheer number of spinners in the Zouks line-up who turn the ball away from the two left-handers. From Mohammad Nabi and Roston Chase to Zahir Khan, the Zouks have many spinners who pose a challenge to southpaws.
Kieron Pollard: The Trinbago Knight Riders skipper has been ruthless with the bat and exemplary with his slower balls in the middle overs. He has marshalled his troops brilliantly too and is one of the best thinkers in the game. Pollard’s death batting, and in particular his contest with the Jamaica pacers, could well decide this contest.
Featured Bet: Trinbago Knight Riders are priced at 1.62 to beat Jamaica Tallawahs.
