France at the FIFA World Cup

There’s nothing else in football that compares to the World Cup. Due to the competition’s extensive history and the fact that one team represents a whole nation, even while the UEFA Champions League may provide matches of the same calibre, it doesn’t surpass the prestige that’s been established.

The most recent FIFA World Cup attracted almost three billion television viewers globally, and one billion people watched the final. No other sporting event can compare in prominence, which is why we’re offering the best FIFA World Cup 2022 odds.

Except for interruptions brought on by the Second World War, the World Cup has been staged every four years since the first official match was played in Uruguay in 1930. However, unofficial pre-FIFA World Cups were held as early as the late 1800s, when there were few national teams.

Before 1930, there was also the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy, which was held in 1909 and 1911. In addition, the Summer Olympic football tournaments would serve as a benchmark for the top national teams before 1930. However, only amateur teams competed in the Olympic events. The World Cup became the “real deal”, with top athletes representing their nations.

The French Team

The national France football team is governed by the French Football Federation or FFF for short. White, red and blue are the team’s colours. France is nicknamed Les Bleus (The Blues).

France has participated in 16 FIFA World Cups and was one of the four European nations that competed in the 1930 World Cup. Only six teams have won the FIFA World Cup championship more than once, and the national team is one of only eight to have done so.

In 1998, the French squad captured their first World Cup victory. The final match featured France defeating Brazil 3-0 at home in the competition. France previously hosted the competition in 1938 but was defeated by reigning winners Italy in the quarterfinals.

By defeating Croatia 4-2 in the World Cup final in Russia in 2018, France won the tournament for the second time. In 2006, France came in second place, losing to Italy on penalties after the game ended in a 1-1 draw after extra time. Additionally, the team has placed third twice, in 1958 and 1986, and fourth once, in 1982.

France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup

The 2022 World Cup runs from November 21st until December 18th, 2022. In September, the selection for the Nations League games signals who may be included in the France World Cup 2022 team lineup.

National managers were permitted to bring 26 players to the European Championship last summer for the first time in a significant competition. As opposed to the customary 23-man teams, 26-player squads will now be used at the World Cup in Qatar.

There are a few players that, barring injuries or suspensions, we anticipate to be a lock for Didier Deschamps’ final France 2022 World Cup roster. Les Bleus have plenty of options if Deschamps’ starting lineups see a decline in performance over the upcoming season.

However, a few players are practically guaranteed to be travelling to Qatar. Hugo Lloris, France’s captain and goalkeeper, is one of them and is on pace to surpass Lilian Thuram’s record of 142 appearances for his country.

Another player who will be in the team no matter what is Antoine Griezmann, who just made his 100th appearance for his country. If they’re healthy, then Kylian Mbappe, Raphael Varane, and Paul Pogba are equally confident of their spots in the travelling party.

The French team is expected to look like this:

Goalkeepers:

  • Hugo Lloris
  • Alphonse Areola
  • Mike Maignan

Defenders:

  • Benjamin Pavard
  • Raphael Varane
  • Theo Hernandez
  • Benoit Badiashile
  • Ferland Mendy
  • Dayot Upamecano
  • Jules Kounde
  • William Saliba
  • Jonathan Clauss

Midfielders:

  • Eduardo Camavinga
  • Youssouf Fofana
  • Matteo Guendouzi
  • Aurelien Tchouameni
  • Adrien Rabiot

Forwards:

  • Ousmane Dembele
  • Olivier Giroud
  • Antoine Griezmann
  • Randal Kolo Muani
  • Kylian Mbappe
  • Christopher Nkunku

What to Expect From the French Team

At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the French will attempt to defend their title and become the first side to get consecutive wins since Brazil won the competition twice in a row in 1958 and 1962. Stars like Paul Pogba, Hugo Lloris, Aurelien Tchouameni, Kylian Mbappe and others are prepared to compete on the international stage once more to lead Les Bleus to back-to-back triumphs.

Some of the most well-known players in football are on the French squad. Kylian Mbappe, who emerged in Russia and scored the goals that enabled them to win the championship four years ago, is currently the subject of more conversation than anybody else.

Along with other well-known individuals, France has more than enough potential to win the tournament once more, and its supporters appear to share this idea. Here on our website, you can watch every game schedule for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and place your bets on the players and teams of your choice with the most incredible France World Cup odds.
