The Indian Premier League has been a very successful professional cricket competition since its establishment in 2008. The idea behind this high-profile, high-paying, cricket league is to develop cricket in India. Young up-and-coming Indian cricketers are teamed up with some of the world’s best cricketers to compete for the IPL title. The IPL is a showpiece of incredible cricket moments.

Perseverance, amazing skill, and relentless motivation to be the best are the hallmark of the IPL’s best moments. 10CRIC is an exciting online sportsbook for any of your sports betting. Let’s have a look at the greatest moments in IPL history, according to 10CRIC:

Shane Watson Playing With a Bleeding Knee

One of the best cricket all-rounders is the Australian National cricketer Shane Watson. Watson’s IPL stats are rather impressive. In 145 matches he made 3,874 runs at a strike rate of 137.9. He also took 92 wickets with an economy rate of 7.93.  Shane Watson’s 2019 IPL contribution in the final between his team, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians was one of the greatest moments in IPL history.

In the IPL 2019 finals, he played on with a knee injury to very nearly win the title for CSK. In the first few overs, he dived to save himself from a run-out. He had a cut on his left knee which was bleeding. He carried on hitting fours and sixes and very nearly took his side over the finish line, but was run out in the fifth ball of the final over.

CSK fell short of the 150 runs set by Mumbai Indians with one run, with Lasith Malinga bowling an unscorable last ball to the new batsman at the crease. Shayne Watson made an incredible 80 runs from 59 balls with his injury. After the match, he received six stitches on his injured knee.

Adam Gilchrist’s Wicket

This greatest moment in Adam Gilchrist’s IPL career took place when he played in his last professional game for Kings X1 Punjab against Mumbai Indians. Kings X1 needed just one more wicket to win the match against Mumbai Indians. Kings X1 were already out of the finals, and his captain agreed that he could bowl the last over to end his IPL career.

With his first ball he took the wicket of Harbhajan Singh, and also won the match for Kings X1. He ended his career with the incredible stats of a bowling average and economy of 0. He also has a dot ball percentage of 100% and a strike rate of 1.

Chris Gayle Storming 175 Runs

Chris Gayle is one of those cricketers that always entertained the crowds in the IPL with his massive sixes and an even bigger smile. Spectators would travel miles just to witness a match where this great Jamaican cricketer was batting. He was also a very good spin bowler and fielder as well.

Chris Gayle’s stats are incredible. He made 4,965 runs in 142 matches with a strike rate of 149.0. He also took 18 wickets with an economy rate of 7.89 with his right-arm off-spin bowling. Chris Gayle’s records are a testimony of his greatness. He was the first cricketer to hit a century in T20 cricket with a 57 ball 117 against South Africa in the world T20 cup.

Chris Gayle’s 2013 IPL season was his best in the competition. In the match for Pune Warriors against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he made the highest individual score in T20 of 175 off only 66 balls. This great innings also gave him the records for the fastest century and most sixes in an innings. He was a game-changer of note and could wreck a bowler’s confidence with his magnificent power display. Chris Gayle’s 2013 innings of 175 not-out are definitely one of the greatest moments in T20 history.

Sourav Ganguly Celebration

Sourav Ganguly is the popular President Of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. During his cricket playing career, he was one of the leading batsmen in the cricketing world. He was one of the most successful captains of the Indian national cricket team. He has over 11,000 ODI runs to his name.

The greatest moment in his cricketing career was his infamous celebration On the Lord’s balcony when he was the victorious captain of the Indian team that beat England in Lords in 2002 for the NatWest final Test trophy.

Sourav Ganguly’s celebration was to take off his shirt on the Lord’s balcony and wave it to the fans. Copying Andrew Flintoff who had done the same when England won at the Wankhede Stadium days earlier. It was a huge run-chase of 325 runs to win at Lords. Captain Ganguly and Virender Sehwag started with 106 for no loss, but then England started to take wickets and India lost half their wickets for 40 more runs.

Youngsters Yuvraj Singh and Mohammed Kaif saved the day for India. Yuvraj lost his wicket but India went on to win the test. In all the excitement Ganguly took off his shirt and waved it at his players and the spectators.

Brendon McCullum’s Incredible Score Of 158

This brilliant New Zealand national opening batsman played for Kolkatta Knight Riders in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. In IPL 2022 he is the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, and it is rumoured that in 2023 he will be the coach for England. Brendon McCullum’s stats are amazing. In 109 IPL matches, he scored 2,881 runs with a strike rate of 131.61%. He scored two IPL centuries. Brendon McCullum’s records show what a magnificent opening batsman he is. He has over 2000 runs and 100 wicket keeping dismissals in tests, with the most dismissals of 9 in a test match.

He has the record for hitting 158 not out, from 73 balls in the first IPL match for KKR against RCB in 2008. He smashed 13 sixes and 10 fours with a strike rate of 216.44 to get to this magnificent total. This innings of Brendon McCullum also gave the IPL some credibility. It made a statement that even with all the bling and fanfare, there is going to be great cricket played in the IPL. Brendon McCullum’s incredible score of 158 not out is one of the greatest moments in IPL history.
