Sixers hope to amend losing start in the season
Melbourne Renegades come off the back of a strong win in the weekend game against Perth Scorchers and appear confident enough to overturn their woes against the Sixers in the past. The Renegades finished at the bottom last season, but a lot has changed since then – they have assembled a strong outfit this year. They will still need to put in a massive effort to win against Sixers and have odds of 1.74 to win this fixture.
The Sixers had a shock start to the season with a loss to Hobart Hurricanes. Quite a lot of flaws with their squad in the absence of key players stood out in the first game and they will be aiming to make quick amends to open their account in the season. The Sixers have odds of 1.90 to beat the Renegades on Sunday.
A pretty even record in the last three seasons
Overall records favour the Sydney Sixers who have seven wins as against Renegades’ five. However, in recent times the battles have swung back and forth. In the last three seasons, each team has won thrice each, but notably it has come with one team dominating the other in one season. The Sixers lost both matches in 2018, but won both games in 2019. The side winning went on to win the title on both occasions.
RECOMMENDED BET: The Renegades have a strong side and have a win up their sleeve and have odds of 1.74 to beat the Sixers
The Renegades will be banking on their batting prowess this season. Their wins in 2018 also suggest that relying on their core strength has worked for the Renegades against the Sixers.
Keep an eye on…
The Renegades top-order: Shaun Marsh, Aaron Finch, Rilee Rossouw and Sam Harper are quite a top four to have in your T20 side. The Renegades have focused on their batting strength this season and have all resources to push the Sixers in this fixture, especially with the defending champions missing key bowling figures.
James Vince : A massive positive for the Sixers from the first game was the form of England top-order batter, James Vince. An elegant stroke-maker, Vince scored runs briskly and as long as he was at the crease, the Sixers seemed to be on course to overhaul the target. His form early in the season augurs well for the Sixers.
