KXIP look to end three-match losing streak while SRH aim to get rid of inconsistency
These are two teams who are in the bottom half of the points table. The sixth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are up against bottom-placed Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in match 22 of this IPL edition. SRH have had an up and down season so far. They’ve won two and lost three so far. Meanwhile, KXIP have lost four out of their five games so far.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have blown hot and cold so far. There have been some positives with the bat. The 2016 IPL champions have generally been top-heavy but their middle-order has done decently. While David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have got runs, the likes of Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg have stood up decently. It is their bowling that’s been pretty inconsistent. They haven’t had the best of times with respect to injuries as well. After Mitchell Marsh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was ruled out of the tournament. Prithvi Raj Yarra replaces the latter. But considering KXIP’s form, SRH have better odds of winning this game at 1.80.

Kings XI Punjab’s campaign has just gone haywire. They have had a couple of huge losses. Barring KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, their batting has crumbled and their death bowling has been one of the worst this season. Their woes seem to have no end. Thus, KXIP will be the underdogs going into this game and their odds of winning are 2.00.
Overall record highly in favour of Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH joined the IPL only in 2013. However, in 14 matches that they played against KXIP, SRH have an overwhelming record and have won 10 of those games.
RECOMMENDED BET: SRH seem to have better balance and have the odds of 2.00 to sneak in a win
This season, SRH are placed sixth with four points. Meanwhile, KXIP are last with just two points.
TIP: Rahul has been the leading run-getter and has got runs in every game. Thus, he has the odds of 7.00 to top score in this game
Keep an eye on…
Mohammed Shami: The Bengal fast bowler has been very good this season. However, most of Shami’s success has come with the new-ball. He has been brilliant up front and has been picking wickets consistently. Thus, his battle against Jonny Bairstow and David Warner in the powerplay will be the one to watch out for.
Rashid Khan: The Afghanistan superstar seems to have found his mojo back. After an indifferent start, he is back to his lethal best. He has troubled the batsmen constantly and the opposition have started playing him out. He has an economy of 5.20 this season and will be the bowler to watch out for once again.
