Chennai surface could challenge KKR
Sunrisers Hyderabad head into this season after a poor auction, some questionable replacements and banking on their old timers to try and make it work yet again. Luckily, they do have a strong core squad and the Chennai surface and an in-form Bhuvneshwar Kumar could give them the perfect start. They have odds of 1.86 to beat Kolkata in Chennai.
Kolkata have a power-packed batting line-up that explodes in the middle-order with the biggest hitter of them all, Andre Russell, slotted in down the order. However, the slow Chennai wicket and the SRH bowlers will cause them trouble. The Eoin Morgan-led side has odds of 1.86 to win this crucial first game of the season.
KKR in front in overall head to head fixtures
Kolkata Knight Riders have won 12 of the 19 matches between these franchises including both matches in 2020. While the Sunrisers have been a dominant force in these years, they haven’t quite done as well as they would have liked against the Knight Riders.
RECOMMENDED BET: SRH have good spinners and batsmen capable of countering spin. As such, they have better odds at 1.86 to beat the CSK side.
In Chennai, Kolkata have won just two of the nine matches they have played in the IPL. Hyderabad are no better having lost all three of their matches at the venue.
Keep an eye on…
The KKR batting : Shubman Gill is the anchor in the line-up, but there’s less clarity on who he might open with and how they might balance the side especially with the batting slightly light and inclined towards death overs middle-order batsmen.
SRH spinners: Chennai will aid turn and Sunrisers might likely start with Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan in the XI to complement the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan. Can the spinners tie down KKR’s strong middle-order?
TIP: KKR have a lot of big hitters and have odds of 1.90 to hit more sixes in this game.
