Buttler-less Rajasthan will be tested by Chennai
Rajasthan Royals were dealt a body blow at the beginning of their season with Jos Buttler ruled out of the opening game of the season as he travelled with his family and has to undergo a mandatory six-day quarantine. With Buttler out of the equation and Ben Stokes also absent, the Royals are short in batting firepower and will want their Indian batters to step up. Their odds of beating CSK stand at 2.00.
Chennai Super Kings started the season off with a thumping won over Mumbai Indians despite the odds being against them. Even in the absence of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, CSK appeared on top of their game and will be a tough team to beat this season if game one was anything to go by. They have superior odds of 1.80 in notching up a second win.
Chennai Super Kings have won 3 of the last 4 matches against Rajasthan Royals
CSK have dominated head to head battles against Rajasthan Royals with 14 wins and 8 losses overall in the IPL. In the last two seasons, CSK have three games as against the sole win Rajasthan managed to rack up in these two years. Clearly, CSK are the frontrunners when it comes to playing Rajasthan Royals.
RECOMMENDED BET: Chennai Super Kings haven’t lost to RR since 2018 and are priced at 1.80 to beat themOver the years, CSK have also acquired Shane Watson, a former Rajasthan Royals player and their batting strength will be a test for Rajasthan’s bowling attack that was mediocre last season. The last time these two teams met in UAE when the IPL was moved here in 2014, CSK won against RR.
Keep an eye on…
Jofra Archer: The Rajasthan seamer is their biggest hope against CSK batsmen who haven’t really been tested against the short ball. Archer can crank up the pace and can test the likes of Watson, Du Plessis, Dhoni and Rayudu. How Rajasthan use Archer in the game could well decide their fortunes this match.
The CSK spin attack: CSK’s spin attack reigned over Mumbai last game even in the absence of Imran Tahir and Mitchell Santner. Piyush Chawla and Ravindra Jadeja could be partnered by another spinner and CSK’s potency against RR’s right-handed batsmen could increase.
TIP: Chennai Super Kings hit five sixes in their opening game and have odds of 2.05 to hit more sixes than Rajasthan.
