Rajasthan have task cut out against CSK bowling
Chennai Super Kings have been a force in IPL 2021 with their attacking top-order batting, terrific death overs bowling and middle overs choking by the spinners and quicks who bowl hard-lengths. MS Dhoni’s side have been benefited by the strong opening duo of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis and are so strong on paper that they boast of odds of 1.63 to beat RR.
Rajasthan Royals have struggled to gain momentum this season with every win succeeded by a loss. They haven’t had a consistent group of players either with several replaced and a few new players coming in. On the whole, they are dependent on a few names to win matches and have odds of 2.24 to beat Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai hold overall edge
Overall, Chennai Super Kings have a better head-to-head against Rajasthan Royals. In 25 matches, CSK have won 15 and lost 10 over the years. While they lost both games in 2020, CSK turned it around with a win earlier in the season.
RECOMMENDED BET: Chennai Super Kings have all bases covered and are a strong unit capable of beating the best of teams. They have odds of 1.63 to beat Rajasthan Royals.
With the teams at the opposite ends of the points table this time, CSK are aiming to seal their qualification while Rajasthan Royals are fighting with at least three teams for a position in the play-offs.
Keep an eye on…
Chennai’s bowling: While Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have hogged headlines, Josh Hazlewood and Dwayne Bravo have been admirable in the middle and death overs while Deepak Chahar has done the job in the powerplays. Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur complete a terrific bowling line-up that has few weak links.
Sanju Samson: Sanju Samson is having his best ever IPL season and despite the lack of support from his teammates, the Rajasthan Royals’ skipper has been exemplary in leading the side to winning situations, if not wins itself.
