Kings XI seek to redeem season
The fortunes of the two teams could not have gone more different ways. After thumping Royal Challengers Bangalore by 97 runs this season the first time these two met, Punjab’s season meandered along to nothing after they lost a bunch of close games. Despite being in the winning position in at least three games, Kings XI threw the advantage away and went on to lose all of them. Their odds of beating RCB are at a poor 2.20.
RCB, on the other hand, have turned things around dramatically. They are third on the points table after some confidence-boosting big wins over Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in the last two fixtures. With the bowlers firing and AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in form, the task is cut out for Punjab, especially on a batting paradise like Sharjah. The odds for RCB stand at 1.64.

Overall record almost in the balance
Overall, Kings XI Punjab have won 13 of the 25 matches between these sides with Royal Challengers Bangalore winning 12 matches. Since 2018, though, RCB have a 4-1 win-loss record, although the previous game these two played saw RCB lose by a whopping margin, the largest this season, to Kings XI Punjab. While KXIP will carry confidence from that win, recent record has seen RCB iron out weaknesses and grow into a formidable outfit.
RECOMMENDED BET: RCB have won their last two games by big margins and have odds of 1.64 to win.
RCB have polished out their weaknesses and the bowling is appearing as strong as it ever has been. Kings XI Punjab might be boosted by the addition of Chris Gayle whose former franchise is RCB. But will he be able to help them redeem their season?
Keep an eye on…
AB de Villiers: If you think he is past his prime, he has made you rethink already. With outrageous knocks in the last few games, AB de Villiers is looking really threatening, especially in the death overs, an area that Kings XI Punjab have struggled with. If they miss their lengths at Sharjah, expect de Villiers to take full toll yet again.
Chris Gayle: If he plays, the Universe Boss will be looking to make up for his absence in the last few games. A big-match performer, Gayle can take any attack to the cleaners and the RCB attack should come to his liking.
TIP: RCB openers have started off on a positive note each time and have odds of 1.57 in making more runs in the first over.
