The 6th edition of the Pakistan Super League is set to begin from on February 20 with the defending champions Karachi Kings taking on Quetta Gladiators. The tournament runs for a while month with the finals set for March 22 in Lahore. The National Stadium in Karachi and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will be the only two venues used.

Teams involved

There are six regular teams playing the season: Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators, and Multan Sultans, who were added in 2018.

Islamabad United have won the title twice, once in 2016 and again in 2018. Peshawar Zalmi (2017), Quetta Gladiators (2019) and Karachi Kings (2020) have won the PSL title once apiece.

Who are the favourites and why?

The odds are stacked in favour of Karachi Kings to pull off another title win after their immensely successful season in 2020. They have a strong squad and have made good draft picks in Dan Christian and Mohammad Nabi, both overseas players. From Pakistan national team skipper Babar Azam to Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, Karachi have a rich wealth of talent up their sleeve to put them ahead in the race for the title.

How do the teams stack up?

Karachi Kings: Strong Pakistan players and some smart recruits in the draft have made Karachi Kings the team to beat in the PSL. They are the favourites at 4.00

Lahore Qalandars: With a strong bowling unit, Lahore Qalandars have the might to challenge the best in this format of the game. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Rashid Khan give them a massive edge on the bowling front. Lahore’s odds stand at 4.35

Quetta Gladiators: Chris Gayle, Faf du Plessis and Dale Steyn aside, Quetta have a strong core of Pakistan players and are fairly good contenders for the title. Their odds are priced at 5.50

Peshawar Zalmi: Some of the most experienced and most upcoming talents from Pakistan are at Peshawar and they have built a strong squad for the season. They will hope their batting can click in sync to give them an edge. Back Peshawar at 5.50 to win the PSL.

Islamabad United: The two-time title winners finished sixth last season and have a lot of ground to make up to be close to being title contenders with odds of 6.00

Multan Sultans: A bunch of questionable auction choices overshadowed a season that saw them finish third last time. Their chances will depend a lot on how several individuals step up, priced at 6.50
