Heat pumping up for another heist
It wouldn’t be a stretch to state that Brisbane Heat were one of the most unfancied teams when the 2020/21 season of the Big Bash League kicked off. Instead, they managed to scrape through to the play-offs, then beat Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder in back-to-back games to come from the brink of elimination to reach the Challenger, one step away from the finals. They have odds of 2.10 to beat Perth Scorchers and reach the finals.
Perth Scorchers, on the other hand, would be gutted with their loss in the qualifier against Sydney Sixers but still have a better chance of beating Heat, a team they have won against thrice in the last four meetings. Their odds of beating them stand at 1.60
Overall and recent record favour Perth Scorchers
Perth Scorchers have the edge, even if slight, in terms of overall records with eight wins as against seven losses in all seasons of the BBL combined against the Brisbane Heat. However, the recent record is more in favour of the Scorchers who have won three of the last four matches.
RECOMMENDED BET: Brisbane Heat are in form, but Perth Scorchers have more bases covered as a team and have odds of 1.60 to beat the Heat
In this edition of the Big Bash League, the teams have won one game apiece in head-to-head matches. It’s something Brisbane Heat will hope to take confidence from as they head into the Challenger game.
Keep an eye on…
Perth’s bowling: With Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Fawad Ahmed and Jason Behrendorff up their sleeve, the Scorchers are a bowling heavy line-up and have done exceedingly well in restricting teams. It’s a force they will have to use against a strong batting line-up like that of the Heat.
TIP: Chris Lynn is in terrific form and has odds of 7.50 to win the Player of the Match award.
Brisbane’s batting: Led by Chris Lynn and now ably supported by Marnus Labuschagne, Jimmy Pierson, Sam Heazlett and Joe Denly. Brisbane’s strong batting line-up will be the biggest threat for Scorchers in this all-important clash.
