Stars hope to surge from slump
The Melbourne derby comes at an apt time for tbe Renegades who might just be lucky enough to catch the Stars in the middle of a slump. The Renegades have just two wins after 10 matches and are at the bottom of the points table. Their odds of winning, though, still remain at a very ordinary 2.25. The Renegades will need to do exceptionally well to even climb up from the bottom, but this fixture could just even out a bit because of Stars’ poor run.
The Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, have won four and lost five of their matches. The catch, though, is that they have lost the five in their last seven games, while winning just two in this period. The Stars, though, won their final game before this one but are yet to appear like the unit that went into the finals in the last two seasons. They have odds of 1.51 to win the clash against the other Melbourne outfit.

Overall and recent record favour Stars
There is little argument in that the Melbourne Stars are the better franchise from Melbourne. While the Renegades won the title in 2018, the Stars have in general enjoyed better returns in the Big Bash League’s history. This is true in head-to-head records too, where the Stars have won 13 of the 18 matches between these sides.
RECOMMENDED BET: Stars have a dominant record against the Renegades and have odds of 1.51 to beat the them.
Recent record also favour the Stars who have won four of the last five matches between these sides. This is the first time, though, that these teams will be going against each other in the 2020/21 edition of the Big Bash League.
Keep an eye on…
Glenn Maxwell: The Stars all-rounder has had a good season despite his team’s dwindling returns. Maxwell has bowled well and provided much impetus with the bat too. He is the fourth highest run-scorer this season with 292 runs at an average of 36.50 in the season. Much of Stars’ good run this year has been down to Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.
Kane Richardson: The Renegades pacer is one to watch out for in the shortest format of the game. An experienced player now, Richardson has a knack of picking up wickets and can cause considerable damage with the ball upfront.
TIP: Glenn Maxwell made an a swashbuckling impact in the last few games and has odds of 7.50 to win the Player of the Match award.
