Sydney Thunder look to consolidate position at the top of the table
Sydney Thunder come off the back of amazing wins and have been a surprise package in the 2020/21 edition of the Big Bash League. They have won four and lost just one of their five games, giving them a pole position in the points table. They’ve looked a competitive outfit with some extraordinary players and will be backing themselves to beat the Renegades who look down and out at this stage. The Thunder have odds of 1.66 to win this fixture.
The Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, have had a dismal season, kind of like a continuation of their season last year. The Renegades have a decent squad and some amazing additions, but they have somehow not managed to click in sync. Their odds of beating a rather formidable Thunder outfit rest at 2.00.

Overall record favours the Renegades
If overall records are a reason to feel confident before a game, the Renegades will be mighty pleased with their head-to-head record against the Sydney Thunder side. They have nine wins and just three losses over the years in matches against the Thunder. Even in the season they went on to finish last (2019/20), the Renegades managed to sneak in a win against the Thunder.
RECOMMENDED BET: Strong and well balanced this time, the Sydney Thunder have odds of 1.66 to beat the Melbourne Renegades
This year, however, Sydney Thunder have been on a roll so far and have even beat the Renegades in their previous meeting. They will be backing themselves to complete another win over the Renegades to give that overall record a more even look.
Keep an eye on…
Callum Ferguson: He retired from international cricket earlier this year, but Callum Ferguson has had a good year in the Big Bash League so far. The middle-order batsman is the top run-scorer in the league with 197 runs in five games at an average of 49.25 and has played the sheet anchor role to perfection for the Sydney Thunder.
Kane Richardson: Always an x-factor with the ball, Kane Richardson has a remarkable record in T20s and he has once again been in his elements this season for the Renegades despite their dwindling returns as a team. Richardson has an average of 16.44 with nine wickets after five games.
TIP: Alex Hales has threatened to fire big for the Thunder and has odds of 8.50 to win the Player of the Match award.
