Mumbai hope to make their season count
After all the drama, the two best teams in the season so far made it to the qualifiers. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will tussle it out for a place in the finals early on. While Mumbai come off the back of a demoralising loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last league game, they played a depleted side, and when in full strength the Rohit Sharma-led unit is a tough nut to crack as Delhi found out twice this season. Their odds of winning the game stand at 1.64.
Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have had a pretty different year. They were one of the top teams in the first half of the season. They then went on to lose four on the trot and made a last ditch qualification after a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last league game. Delhi will find Mumbai tough as has been seen from the season and their odds stand at 2.20 to win the qualifiers.
Overall head to head record in balance
Overall record has been reasonably dividied with Delhi have and Mumbai being considerably even in head-to-head matches. MI have 14 wins in IPL matches against Delhi over the years, while Delhi have had 12 wins over the years. This is in stark contrast to the records of the two teams in the league’s history with Mumbai having as many as four titles and Delhi zero. Since 2018, Delhi has come back strong and the fortunes have been more even with Delhi and Mumbai winning three each.
RECOMMENDED BET: Mumbai Indians have been the team of the season and have odds of 1.64 to win this game
Earlier in the season when these sides met, Mumbai won both games quite comfortably. Delhi’s chance to topple Mumbai will depend on how their batting, that has been a flop, fares against Mumbai’s bowlers.
Keep an eye on…
Dhawan’s starts: Shikhar Dhawan has been a hit or miss this season and when he has not shone, the runs have really dried up and gone into single-digits. When he has clicked, he has ensured he goes big and there are quite a few knocks this season that justify his skill at doing so. Delhi’s chances will hinge on Dhawan.
Mumbai bowling: The purple cap holder for the season, Bumrah comes after a well deserved rest to lead the bowling attack. Trent Boult should also return with James Pattinson as the third seamer. Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya will be crucial because they will be bowling to a lot of lefties.
TIP: Mumbai have massive big hitters in their side and have odds of 1.64 to hit more sixes.
