Kolkata’s big hitting against SRH’s spin attack
One factor that came through clearly in the first games of Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad was their over-dependence on a few players. While Sunrisers have been banking too much on David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, Kolkata have literally hoped Andre Russell would cover up for their faulty batting every game.
Kolkata Knight Riders struggled to counter Mumbai Indians in their first fixture and several glaring flaws were exposed in the process. Sunrisers would have made notes about Kolkata’s evident weaknesses in the line-up this time, especially in the bowling attack. Their odds of beating Hyderabad stand at 2.00.
Sunrisers, on the other hand, were ordinary against Royal Challengers Bangalore but it’s too early to write them off. The sheer consistency of Warner and Bairstow in the batting and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan in the bowling mean that Hyderabad have better odds of 1.80 to beat KKR.

Kolkata Knight Riders have a better head to head records against Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad have been a much improved side in the last 3-4 seasons and their record against Kolkata Knight Riders is 3-2 in the last two years with the teams winning one game apiece in the 2019 edition. SRH have often inducted players from KKR over the years and as such there have been several similarities in the way these two franchises operate.
RECOMMENDED BET: SRH have a strong bowling attack, hence better odds of 1.80 to beat KKR.
Overall, KKR have a better record against SRH winning 10 and losing seven. They have fallen off the perch a touch in the last couple of years with too much reliance on Andre Russell to bail them out of tough situations.
Keep an eye on…
SRH’s middle-order: Like RCB, if KKR manage to keep the SRH top-order silent, the weak middle order could be exposed. Sunrisers are top-heavy and while that’s necessarily not bad, their middle-order has had far too many collapses for their liking. They will hope the middle-order remains masked by the strong top three yet again.
The KKR bowling attack: A definite weakness in the KKR team is their lackadaisical bowling attack. Aside from Sunil Narine, the spin attack looks ordinary and the pace department seems to lack a sting. Pat Cummins was expected to provide that but he came short in the first game.
