A comeback win could boost India’s confidence
- South Africa have won 13 of their last 15 T20Is
- India’s batting template attracts attention
India’s morale boosting win last game gives them odds of 1.56 to win the fourth match and draw level. The batting looks solid with Ishan Kishan on fire and the bowling came together with Yuzvendra Chahal finding his mojo.

South Africa, on the other hand, are a settled T20I unit with a clear idea of how to go about their game. They have won 13 of their last 15 T20Is, but will miss key players Aiden Markram and likely also Quinton de Kock for this game. Notably, neither played the last two games and the Proteas still managed two wins in three games. They have odds of 1.56 to win the game.
The identical head to head
South Africa have won 13 of their last 15 T20Is, but so have India. Their record in the last 15 T20Is (all of which came after the T20 World Cup unlike South Africa’s) is also identical to that of South Africa. However, India have chopped and changed much in a T20 World Cup year with as many as 24 players tried in 2022 alone.
Our pick: India are back confident after a win and will be favourites to win this one. Back India at 1.56!
South Africa won the first two T20Is, but it needed two brilliant individual performances to take them over the line. India, on the other hand, have shown more all-round potential as a team and look confident after their win in the third game.
Keep an eye on…
Ishan Kishan: In the absence of the big stars, Ishan Kishan has made a solid mark with compelling performances in each of the three games. Ruturaj Gaikwad finding his feet in international cricket is also good news for the Indians.
Temba Bavuma and Heinrich Klaasen. South Africa’s best player of spin, and the anchor in the line-up, Temba Bavuma needs to tackle the overs from the spinners to set the stage for the likes of Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller. Heinrich Klaasen, who comes a bit lower, can be pushed up to utilise his attacking game against spin.
TIP: Wayne Parnell has bowled well on his comeback series. Back Wayne Parnell at 6.35 to be South Africa’s top bowler!
