India, on the other hand, are missing big names, but it could be beneficial for them to try a few players in a T20 World Cup year. KL Rahul comes off the back of a big IPL season and will lead the side. India have odds of 1.55 to win the match.
India bank on home advantage and record streak
India have won three of the four T20Is against South Africa at home. Overall, India still enjoy an advantage with nine wins in 15 T20Is. Of the six losses, five have come outside India.
India are, meanwhile, on a 12-match unbeaten streak in T20Is with their last loss coming against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup. No team has won 13 matches on the trot in T20Is.
Our pick: India are strong on paper and are favourites to win the game. Back India at 1.55!
South Africa will ponder their bowling combinations, while India will be keen to see how Hardik Pandya goes with him returning to the T20I team after a while.
Keep an eye on…
KL Rahul: Rahul’s captaincy stint in South Africa did not go down well, and he will be hoping to make a turnaround this series especially with the team having a few other leaders. His batting intent was also under scrutiny in the IPL.
David Miller: A sensational IPL saw David Miller’s stocks shoot up incredibly. The South African could be in for a bigger role in the T20I setup after his exploits for Gujarat Titans.
TIP: India have a relatively slow-going top-order. Back India at 2.44 to score under 42.5 runs at the end of the powerplay!
