West Indies have their task cut out
An impressive run in the tournament for West Indies has ended up with a semi-final clash against Australia, one of the greatest ODI teams across men’s and women’s sport. West Indies have odds of 6.29 to win the game, but it will take a superlative effort from them to do it.
Australia will miss Ellyse Perry for this big clash, but haven’t quite been ruthless throughout the tournament. They struggled in the run chase against Bangladesh in their last league game, but managed to scrape through eventually, a hallmark of successful teams. Australia’s chances of winning stand at 1.07
Stupendous head to head record for Australia
Australia have won 13 of the 14 head to head clashes against West Indies, including one this tournament, with the only loss coming on a slow track in India in 2013. However, in the last 10 head to head, all matches have been won by Australia. The record is similar even in T20Is, where they have suffered only one loss to West Indies, in 2016.
RECOMMENDED BET: West Indies have struggled against top teams in the past and even with that changing, Australia are too strong for them. Back Australia at 1.07 to win this clash!
Overall, Australia’s ODI form is impressive. They have won all but two games in this format in the last five years…
Keep an eye on…
Meg Lanning: Meg Lanning made a duck in the group clash against West Indies, but has made big scores in this tournament. It is unlike her to fail twice against the same team in the same tournament.
Hayley Matthews: Hayley Matthews has been in good form at the top of the order and with the ball. She also had an impact with the ball earlier in the tournament against Australia, although she couldn’t make a score with the bat.
TIP: Australia’s opening pair are reliable and have odds of 1.52 to have the higher score at first dismissal.
