England aim to make best of opportunity
England have odds of 3.18 to beat Australia in the final of the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup after a lucky run to the last two of the tournament. England weren’t at their best in the league stages and scraped through to the semi-finals where they put in a solid performance to beat South Africa and make the finals.
Australia, meanwhile, are the most ruthless team in the women’s sport and one of the most successful teams in cricket’s history. With just two ODI losses since 2018, Australia are favourites with odds of 1.29 to remain unbeaten in the tournament and win the title.
Recent record and everything else favours Australia
Overall, England have won 22 ODIs against Australia in women’s ODIs while losing 56 of them. But the recent record is more lopsided. In the last decade, in matches between these sides, England have won just six and Australia have won 15.
RECOMMENDED BET: Australia are a strong team, well rounded in all departments and superior to every other team in the tournament. Back Australia at 1.29 to win the title!
Australia last lost an ODI to England in 2017. Since then, the Aussies have beaten England in seven successive matches and recently thumped them 3-0 in an ODI series at home right before the World Cup. They also beat them in this World Cup earlier but by a marginal 12 runs.
Keep an eye on…
Alyssa Healy: The leading run-scorer in the world since the last World Cup, Alyssa Healy has hit her straps at the right time for Australia with her knock in the semi-final against West Indies, sharing a record stand with Rachael Haynes. Healy will be key for Australia if they are to start off big against England.
Tammy Beaumont: The second highest run-scorer in women’s ODIs since the last World Cup, Beaumont has been in good form this tournament as well and will be a big player for England in the finals.
TIP: Australia are a world-class unit and inevitably has one batter stepping up big in the big games. A player from Australia scoring a ton comes at odds of 2.61
