CSK, RCB both look to get back to winning ways
MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face off against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this Saturday. Both teams have had their moments so far in this IPL. CSK have lost four out of their six games and have struggled a lot more compared to the past while RCB have had one of the better starts this season, winning three out of their five games.
After a thumping win over Kings XI Punjab, it seemed like CSK were getting back on track but they were put down by Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK were 90/1 in their chase of 167 against KKR in the last game and yet, they bottled it up. They’ve chased in all six games and have lost four of them. The intent of the middle-order has been in question. Their bowling hasn’t looked at it’s best either. Thus, for the first time in a long long time, CSK will start as the underdogs against RCB and their odds of winning are placed at 2.00.
RCB have done quite a few things right this season. They may have lost two games but this has been their best start since 2013. Their batting looks good and it hasn’t relied only on the two big stars – Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Devdutt Padikkal is in good form and Aaron Finch has contributed decently as well. Shivam Dube’s hitting prowess was seen on a couple of occasions as well. The bowling has been a slight worry, especially at the death and RCB will hope that gets better with the inclusion of Chris Morris. Hence, with a well-rounded squad, RCB go into this game as slight favourites and have the winning odds of 1.80.

Overall record highly in favour of Chennai Super Kings
As far as the overall head to head record is concerned, CSK are miles ahead. In 24 matches that CSK and RCB have played, the MS Dhoni-led side have won 15 games and RCB have won just 8 with one no-result. Moreover, RCB were on a losing streak of seven games against CSK which ended with a one-run win last season.
TIP: Chennai Super Kings openers have fired and have odds placed at 1.95 to have a strong opening partnership
This season, CSK have been very inconsistent and seem to have glaring problems. They are currently sixth on the points table with four points. Meanwhile, RCB are only spot ahead with six points and have played a game less.
Keep an eye on…
MS Dhoni: The CSK skipper has a fantastic record against RCB. In fact, he is the leading run-getter in the IPL against RCB. Dhoni has amassed 794 runs at a strike-rate of 143.58 against Virat Kohli’s men. The last time Dhoni was dismissed by RCB was back in 2017. His last four scores against them read – 21, 70, 31 and 84 (all unbeaten). CSK might need their skipper’s magic if they are to turn things around.
AB de Villiers: The retired South African superstar doesn’t boast of a great record against CSK. He averages just 25.11 against them and has recorded three fifties, the last of which came in 2018. Hence, de Villiers will be eager to correct this record and will want to lead the way for RCB.
RECOMMENDED BET: RCB have had a better start and are looking good, hence their odds stand at 1.80 to record a win.
