Chennai need to adapt to new home
Chennai Super Kings are the one IPL side that relies on home advantage a lot. They are deprived of it this year and will have to get accustomed to Mumbai, their second home this time. The conditions here are in stark contrast to that in Chennai and their task is cut out. They have odds of 2.10 to beat DC in Mumbai.
DC, on the other hand, will bank on their premier pacers to try and suppress CSK’s batsmen. Pace and bounce could be a major factor if Delhi’s South African duo play. The Rishabh Pant-led side has odds of 1.70 to start their season off with a win.
CSK hold edge in head to head fixtures
Chennai Super Kings have the better head to head overall record against Delhi and understandably so given how successful an IPL team they have been. They have 15 wins as against DC’s 8. Since the 2019 season, CSK have won three of the five matches against Delhi.
RECOMMENDED BET: Delhi Capitals have strong pacers and spin hitters making them favourites with odds of 1.70 to beat the CSK side.
In Mumbai, CSK have won as many as they have lost despite playing a strong Mumbai side. Delhi Capitals, however, have won just three of the nine games at this venue.
Keep an eye on…
The DC top-order : With Shreyas Iyer missing all eyes are on who DC are eyeing in his place. Will it be Steve Smith or Sam Billings or the more enterprising Shimron Hetmyer? Ajinkya Rahane is another option up their sleeve as a possible No.3
CSK’s spinners: Chennai will likely have Ravindra Jadeja, Karn Sharma or Imran Tahir and Moeen Ali or Krishnappa Gowtham in the line-up. They will hope to use the boundary lengths at Wankhede to their advantage.
TIP: Shikhar Dhawan is in good form in T20s and has odds of 8.50 to win the Player of the Match award.
