Australia in danger of losing back-to-back Test series against India at home
The last time India came to Australia, the hosts had no David Warner or Steven Smith. This time, India lost their strike bowler Ishant Sharma, is without permanent skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Mohammad Shami after the first Test and has still managed to draw level with the Aussies in Melbourne. As they come down to Sydney, where the conditions are more in favour of India, the chances for a win do not diminish by much. That said, India are still a depleted side and with David Warner back, Australia are still favourites to win the Test. India have odds of 4.55 to cause another upset win.
Australia, on the other hand, are in danger of losing back to back series in Australia against India. Their batting has appeared rusty with Steven Smith not contributing much and David Warner absent. Marnus Labuschagne has got starts but hasn’t converted them to a big score. They have made good squad changes for this Test and have better odds of 1.60 to win this game.

Australia boast of a stunning record in Sydney
Australia have a terrific record at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. They have won 60 Test matches here while losing just 28, a win/loss ratio of 2.142. Bring that down to recent records and the numbers get better for the hosts. In their last 11 Tests at the venue, Australia have lost just once, winning seven of those matches.
RECOMMENDED BET: Australia have a strong record in Sydney and India have a depleted squad giving the hosts odds of 1.60 to beat the tourists
Against India, Australia have thrived at home generally with the last Border-Gavaskar series in 2018/19 being an aberration. While the loss at Melbourne has given India renewed hope, at Sydney they have beaten the Aussies just once while losing five Tests.
Keep an eye on…
The Australian batting: With Warner back and Will Pucovski also returning, Australia have a new combination at the top. This could see Matthew Wade move down the order for Travis Head or drop out of the side. With Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne also expected to be due for big knocks, Australia have their noses in front if they get their mental state right.
TIP: Steve Smith is due a big one and has odds of 7.00 to win the Player of the Match award.
India’s bowling: With Ishant not touring, Shami injured and now Umesh Yadav out, India’s bowling stocks have become thinner with the series progressing. They have still managed to keep the Aussies at bay but with Warner returning and more injuries in the camp, the bowling will be put to test.
