Hurricanes hope to build on winning start in the season
Hobart Hurricanes began the season with a resounding win against defending champions, Sydney Sixers, and have already shown signs of being one of the teams to beat in the competition this year. With a top-class bowling attack, some underrated batsmen and a good group of overseas talent, Hurricanes have a good chance of starting the season on a winning note. While their odds stand at 1.83 to win this game, they stand a better chance to win this fixture going by the squad they have assembled.
Adelaide Strikers are the last season to start their 2020 Big Bash League season. The extra three days have likely made them more impatient than given them time to rest and build up to the first game. They have a well-rounded side and a pretty familiar team but with Cameron White and Billy Stanlake leaving, the squad is slightly short on experience. Their odds to win this game stands at 1.80, but they will need to play out of their skins to actually win it.

A pretty even record in the last four seasons
Overall records favour the Strikers who have eight wins as against Hurricanes’ five. However, dig in further and you see that most of the additional wins have come in the first 3-4 seasons in the Big Bash League. Over the last four seasons, the Strikers have only one additional win to that of the Hurricanes in head-to-head match-ups.
RECOMMENDED BET: Despite odds of 1.83 Hobart Hurricanes are favourites to win this fixture after a winning start this week
The Hurricanes won three of their first game against Sixers with a terrific performance and they will need more of the same against the Strikers that have strong bowling attack.
Keep an eye on…
Colin Ingram: The dual role in the middle-order of anchoring and accelerating will be donned by South Africa’s Colin Ingram for Hobart Hurricanes. He did that with aplomb against the Sixers and showed that the Hurricanes will be hard to beat in this season. The middle-order batsman will once again be key if Hurricanes are to keep Rashid Khan at bay.
Rashid Khan : The Afghanistan leg-spinner is available for only the first nine matches for the Strikers and will be their lynchpin in the bowling attack in these games. Coming off the back of a terrific Indian Premier League, Rashid Khan is buzzing with his own form and will be a tough proposition for the Hurricanes to handle.
TIP: D’Arcy Short finished last season with over 350 runs at an average above 40. After a failure last game he is due a big one and his odds of winning the Player of the Match lie at 7.00
