Australia hosts the 2022 ICC Cricket T20 World Cup in October and November 2022. This exciting event is a great spectacle with millions of viewers worldwide. Team India is again one of the hot favourites to win the 2022 ICC World Cup title. They won the World Cup back in 2011 with a brilliant team which showed great commitment throughout.

India hosted the Cricket World Cup 2011 with the other Asian countries, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The final was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai between the two Asian teams. India beat Sri Lanka by six wickets with some brilliant play and in the process, they became  the first team to win the competition on home soil.

Sri Lanka’s captain Kumar Sangakkara decided to bat first, and Sri Lanka made 274/6. Mahela Jayawardene scored an incredible hundred, finishing on 103 from 88 balls. India started their innings by losing Virender Sehwag with just the second delivery. The great Sachin Tendulkar also lost his wicket cheaply.

Gautam Gambir and Virat Kohli anchored the innings until Kohli got out in the 22nd over. MS Dhoni then joined Gambir, and they had a partnership of 109 runs. Gambhir was out with his score of 97 in the 42nd over. With the help of Dhoni, India managed to reach the total set by Sri Lanka with ten balls left.
